Cynthia practices in the area of real estate and business litigation.
Background
Cynthia is a former law clerk to Justice Charles W. Johnson of the Washington State Supreme Court. During law school, Cynthia externed with Governor Christine Gregoire's General Counsel, and Judge Mary Yu in King County Superior Court. Cynthia also interned with the ACLU of Washington, served as president of the Women's Law Caucus, and was Communications Director for the Student Bar Association.
Representative Cases
- Tidewater Cove Condominiums v. Tidewater Cove LLC: Counsel for luxury condominium association; investigated as-built condition of seven large residential buildings and a clubhouse; prosecuted construction defect claims against developers and subcontractors; negotiated settlements totaling more than $11 million
- Sellwood Village Condominiums v. Buena Vista Custom Homes: Prosecuted COA claim for defects in building envelope and resulting damage; tried case to the court and obtained default judgment against developer; pursing collection against judgment debtor's assets
- Seward Park Townhomes v Seward Park Townhomes, LLC: Filed suit on behalf of condominium association for construction defects; obtained early settlement under a wasting "wrap" policy
- Defoor v. Defoor: Second chair for plaintiff in action to establish existence of meretricious relationship and for distribution of property incident to dissolution of the relationship; won multi-million dollar award of damages and real property following 5-week bench trial
- Yang v. Qiu: Sole trial counsel for plaintiff in action for partition and fraud arising from completed dissolution action; won unanimous jury verdict on fraud claim and award for damages on both claims, plus attorneys fees for prosecuting partition action, costs and pre-judgment interest following a 4-day jury trial
- Heritage Place HOA v. Heritage Place LLC: Prosecuted claims for defective windows and roof against prominent local developer; confidential settlement reached
